High-flying Hucclecote take a break from Counties 3 Gloucestershire North action when they head to North Bristol tomorrow.
After their fine 36-15 home win against promotion rivals Cheltenham Saracens on Saturday, head coach Jack Preece's men turn their attention to the Community Cup Counties 3 & Below Championship with a place in the last eight at stake.
The victory over Saracens leaves them four points and one place below leaders Cirencester, who they host on Saturday 28th March, and their form is in contrast to that of North Bristol, who are third from bottom in the 10-team Counties 3 Gloucestershire South.
North Bristol's 51-21 win at home to ninth-placed Cotham Park at the weekend ended a run of four successive defeats but Hucclecote’s supporters will certainly be travelling down the M5 in a confident mood.
They’ve seen their team score 527 points in their 14 league games – more than any other team in the 12-strong division – and their points difference of 282 is also well ahead of their rivals.
They’ve scored nearly 100 points in their two Community Cup games as well, defeating Cirencester 57-21 before going to Swindon College Old Boys and winning 41-5.
Preece is in his second season in charge and club secretary Mark Howkins, a former player, said: “He’s got us playing well, we’re having a good season.
“We’ve got a fairly young side but it’s a good mix. We’ve got a young set of three-quarters and they do tend to throw the ball about. It was a good win over Saracens.”
Hucclecote return to league action on Saturday 14th February when they travel to third-placed Bredon Star, who are four points behind them having played one game fewer.
Meanwhile, Coney Hill, who are sixth in Counties 3 Gloucestershire North, host Woodrush, who are top of Counties 3 Midlands West (South), in the Community Cup Counties 3 & Below Championship tomorrow.
Woodrush, who have won all 11 of their league games, thumped visitors Pershore 71-7 on Saturday to take their points tally to 544, while they have conceded just 85.
Coney Hill won 26-15 at home to Berry Hill on Saturday.Copyright © 2026 The Local Answer Limited.
